Teacher returning from Maternity Leave
Teacher returning from Maternity Leave
Following a request for flexible working it was agreed that this colleague can reduce her substantive full-time contract to part-time (three days per week) for a period of one year in the first instance with the option to return to full-time at the end of that period of time. This allowed for a good work-life balance for a new first-time Mum

Support Staff
Colleague B went on Maternity leave at the very start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Covid crisis meant that her first year with her child was not normal as she could not attend the usual supportive activities with other new Mums. The school has allowed this colleague a further one-year unpaid sabbatical which will allow her to attend Mother and Baby classes and events going forward.

Various Support Staff
Various Support Staff
A number of support staff have been allowed to compress their working hours. Many before and after school clubs have not yet fully resumed their provision and by allowing colleagues to work at home outside of their normal working hours we have been able to support with any child care issues that have arisen.

Vulnerable Staff
Vulnerable Staff
The school has continued to allow some colleagues to work from home even though shielding has now ended. The colleagues may be vulnerable themselves with health issues or live with someone who is vulnerable to Covid. By allowing colleagues to work from home we have been able to support with reducing anxiety around transmission of Covid from the workplace to home.

Supporting Extended Family
Supporting Extended Family
We have allowed colleagues to work outside of what would be considered normal working hours i.e. starting and finishing later in the day to allow them to support elderly or vulnerable relatives. This has allowed colleagues to arrange for care and hospital appointments to take place early in the working day thus allowing the individual to accompany family members and provide the associated support.

Teaching Staff Approaching Retirement
Teaching Staff Approaching Retirement
It has become common practice that teaching staff reduce their working week when approaching retirement. For example reducing their contract to four days per week one year followed by three days per week the following year. This has allowed for adjustment towards finally retiring fully.
