Flexible Working Ambassador School (FWAS)
Welcome to our Flexible Working Ambassador School area. Parrs Wood High School is one of only eight schools in the country to be awarded accreditation to undertake this work on behalf of the DFE. Flexible Working Ambassador Schools (FWAS) work with others to adopt flexible approaches to staffing providing a high-quality teaching and learning environment for pupils whilst developing working practices and policies that support employee work-life balance. FWAS supports the ethos of the Greater Manchester Learning Trust’s Staff Charter by ensuring our focus on the workload, work-life balance and health and wellbeing of our colleagues is central to our work.
Our existing and extensive collaborations with local schools will enable us to share ideas and training across the region. The experiences of the Coronavirus pandemic and its associated restrictions on schools’ opening and staff working patterns has meant the need for increasing flexibility and has enabled us to see more efficient ways forward in terms of staff deployment and the ‘working week’. Many colleagues benefit from a range of both short and long-term arrangements which suit their personal and professional circumstances and allow us greater flexibility in what we do. Many of our systems have now been adapted to become more efficient and the FWAS initiative has opened doors to additional flexible working and professional development opportunities. These can, in turn, contribute to a more bespoke and flexible Career Development Pathway for all our colleagues.
As a FWAS, Parrs Wood High School is excited to not only demonstrate our way of working, but also to learn from others. We look forward to engaging with schools across the region who are open to exploring further this flexibility or may already be moving forward with their own ideas.
If you would like to discuss the project with us further, or to become one of our partner schools, please get in touch using our contact us form found within this section.
We look forward to working with you.
