YEAR 7 BOBBY CHARLTON TEAM BUILDING DAY

In glorious weather on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th September the Bobby Charlton Soccer and Sports Academy arrived in school to lead new Year 7 pupils in team building activities. The aim of the days was to help the new pupils get to know each other and bond as a Year Group.

Events were themed on team building and problem solving. Pushing the pupils out of their comfort zones in to challenging and exciting situations requiring key skills, such as communication, leadership, co-operation and motivation. There were 6 events in total, and what they entailed are below:

1. Planks and Tyres - Using the blanks, tyres, hoop, rope and tennis ball the pupils had to transfer all team members from one side of a 'river' to the other with only the tyres allowed to touch the floor. Anything other than tyres touching the floor meant the team had to restart.

2. Group Skiing - Pupils shared two pairs of skis with a group of members having to walk in time with each other around a course, racing other teams.

3. Radio-Active waste - Pupils had to transfer balls from one bucket in to another, in a marked off area, without enterring the area. Only one ball could be moved at a time and all pupils must contribute.

4. Group memory game - Pupils in turn had to run to a box, open it and remember all the items in the box. After a timed period pupils must write down all the items they could remember as a team.

5. Sheepdog - Pupils were blindfolded and had to be led by two pupils who were nominated as sheepdog. Pupils could not talk and must communicate with noises. Pupils repeated the process to get the fastest time.

6. Go-Karts - pupils had to work as a team to 'refuel' cars and guide team mates through a course to collect letters which would spell teamwork.

Winning Form from Thursday induction were 7IAM, and winning Form from Friday induction was 7NSM.

Well done to all the pupils who enjoyed the day and rose to the challenge!
