Parrs Wood High School opened in 1967 as an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school situated in the South Manchester suburb of Didsbury.
The school is now housed in brand new buildings on an adjacent site and houses 1,600 students in the main school with 400 in the Sixth Form. The school is regularly over-subscribed in Year 7 and has an excellent local, national and international reputation.
The school is truly comprehensive. It is a multi-cultural, multi-faith school with a wide mix of ability levels.
Parrs Wood is at the heart of the local community and it’s facilities are used by a wide range of community groups.
The school has strong links with local primary schools, further and higher education and local business.
Within the main school building, the Independent Learning Centre provides pupils with an opportunity to develop a wide range of independent curriculum based study skills. It is staffed by a permanent team who support pupils to become independent and reflective learners.
Our Virtual Learning Environment ensures that pupils can access resources outside lesson time using the internet. In addition we offer a ‘home-school’ package for some pupils who have difficulty in coming to school due to illness etc.
