ENGLISH AND MEDIA STUDIES at PARRS WOOD

These are exciting times for the English and Media Faculty. Recent events include visiting a trip to Shakespeare’s home town Stratford to see ‘Shakespearience’, a workshop for the Romeo and Juliet, a trip for Year 8 to the Imperial War Museum to see Terry Deary’s Horrible Histories Exhibition, the continued popularity of our various Book Clubs, an extremely successful Spelling Bee and a string of victories in a series of high level public-speaking competitions.

And there’s more to come! Upcoming events include: Year 11 trip to see “Poetry Live” this is an opportunity for GCSE pupils in England and Wales to see and hear live performances from a great selection of the poets they are studying .

What is more, we are lucky enough to have technology on our side with the introduction of the swanky, new Apple Mac Suite in the Faculty to help with all of your production, design and ICT needs!

We are convinced that reading is key to your overall development. If you read a lot in school and at home, you will soon find yourself whizzing through tasks in every subject. That is why we have our rule that you should bring a reading book to school every day. You are sure to find some books that will grab your attention on our reading lists. Or why not pop into the LRC and see if anything there takes your fancy?
