Dear Parents and Carers
Parrs Wood EPA students made a huge contribution to Didsbury Arts Festival this weekend with street theatre in the village and a music recital at Christ church – both attended by large audiences who were highly impressed by the talent of our students. A big thank you to all parents who went along to support.
As part of their GCSE Citizenship Studies three Parrs Wood students organised a tombola stall at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival in St Ann’s Square last Saturday. The students, Seun Seriki, Holly Slater and Jess Ward were raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and had spent weeks contacting over 200 local businesses to get donations for their stall. The stall had to be set up at 8.30am and the students worked hard all day and did not pack away until 6pm. All the other stalls were run by local businesses and the tombola was organised and run as professionally as any of the other stalls at the event. This wonderful event raised over £400.
This year’s forthcoming school production is `Midsummer Night’s Dream’ with a 1960s theme. Productions will be held from Wednesday 14th November to Friday 16th November at 7:00pm in the Main Hall. Tickets are available from the school reception or from Mr Keyes and Ms Wrigley.
The production will also showcase at the National School Shakespeare Festival on Friday 9th November at the Contact Theatre Manchester. Tickets are available for the showcase via the contact theatre website at www.contactmcr.com.
Sports Results
Football results up to Sept 29th.
Staff Football A good start to the season with an unbeaten run of four games with goals galore in the first three matches. The last game was a very close tense encounter. Staff football really does make use of the term squad rotation. The squad is of infinite size, with different teams picked for each game, but this is mainly due to not knowing the unavailability of players until who turns up.
